We Renovate Houses: Kitchens, Bathrooms, and Everything Inside and Out

My Story

When I was 16 years old, I started my career in construction. During the first 1.5 year I worked for one of the biggest construction companies in The Netherlands. In that time with my colleagues, I built the retirement home, from start to finish! In the deep of winter, with my feet standing freezing cold in the clay, this was when I developed my first on-the-ground building skills.

For around 8 years I was at my 2nd employer, which was a small company who handled many different projects such as: extensions, dormer windows, replacing doors and windows – including the frames & other internal renovations. The most interesting projects for me have been the detached houses & villas my colleagues and I have built together! From a bare piece of land to a completed home for the customer.

For the last 3 years, I was the foreman / construction manager and this turned into what I would be for the rest of my career. I was then asked to work for a company that was building big, beautiful villas and stayed there for around 2 years, until the financial crisis hit. After the company went bankrupt, the villa owners themself were so happy with my standard of work that they hired me independently, to finish off the villa. We are still in contact with each other to this day.

At around 28 years old I started working for my next employer, with about 80 colleagues this was a step up in size. For the first few years I built villas, then diversified into social housing, utility construction and renovation. During this time I was responsible for the renovation of schools, private houses, retirement homes, monumental buildings like city theatres and city music halls.

After 15 years, my wife and I were looking for something different, in the sun and also lifestyle wise, so are now happy in Corfu and I am also happily renovating and remodelling houses on this beautiful island!
